We have a 1969 Traveler and need to know what size and type of tires are recommended for that trailer. Any ideas? We had on radials and one blew, doing some damage to the siding, decimating the wheel well (anyone have one they want to sell?), and going some interior damage. Had a hellish time changing the tire because the tires on the trailer are too wide - couldn't get it into the wheel well without deflating and tipping the trailer the opposite direction. This can't be right!

Not familiar with you model, but is it a single axle or dual axle trailer? What size tires are on it now? Trailer tires have a life of about 5 years and should be replaced even if the tread is good also they should be keep inflated to the max rating on the tire.

What's more, don't exceed 65 mph with trailer tires. There should be some label in or on the trailer that lists the size tires you should use. They should be TRAILER tires, not vehicle tires and try to find ones with the highest load range rating in the correct size.

I buy my tires at Discount Tires - they can order most anything if it's not in stock and their prices are good.

Help

Have the same request as the person that started this thread. Any info out there on the wheels? The last owner replace one of them with a boat trailer tire/wheel setup. Nothing wrapping around the axle, just held on by the 5 lug nuts with a 1/4 inch gap between the wheel hole and the axle. I noticed that the 1969 hilo manual seemed to use Ford products in several different areas. Could this wheel be a ford wheel?
Any thoughts??
