I don't know about any of you, but I'm a big guy and these little bitty camper toilets make me feel like I' going to mess up the seat because they are so small. My question is. Can a regular house sized porcelain toilet be installed in a Hi-Lo? I understand about water slosh, but if they were flushed with the water off wouldn't that lower the water level so spillage wouldn't happen? Has anyone done this refit and if so, how well did it work. Seems to me that it would. Waiting for an expert to either shoot me down or prop me up. (HA-HA)
Thanks ahead of time for your suggestions.

I have put in many toilets and can see no reason why you can't put one in. However, if you dry camp, due to the amt of water it takes to flush a regular toilet it will fill your blackwater tank up fast and use up your fresh water very fast. I would think that they make larger RV toilets now days. Search thru Camping world and other RV catalogs for them.

A regular toilet uses a lot of water in comparison to an RV toilet. It would be ok if you only went to parks where you had full hook ups. But dry camping for more than a couple days and you would run out of water or fill the Black water tank up.
You beat me with the post Jim but I do agree.

There are a number of larger RV toilets made. Some are taller; others are taller and have full sizes seats. Some are even made of porcelain. Check RV supply websites.

Toilet riser

We added a toilet riser and it is the best thing in comfort. Should have done this years ago. DH says you can't put in a household toilet because the flange isn't compatable. Agree with the previous posters reasons why this wouldn't work.

A riser helps, but as I understand the original post, the issue is also the seat size and sturdiness. This is why a better solution may be to replace the toilet with a household-sized RV toilet. Most RV toilet manufactures make household sized toilets. Some even have china bowls.

Bear,

Just got my May issue of Trailer Life. Thetford toilets has an ad on page 46 and it shows a new model called "Aqua-Magic Residence". I went on line to Thetford and looked it up. Says it has a residential size seat & cover. They offer a tall & short model. You still might would need to install a riser for your comfort needs. Risers do help. I installed one on my toilet. Check out their website. They are also offering a $25 rebate on it also. Hope this helps.

regular toilet

I looked up that Thetford toilet. They wanted almost $1300.00 for it. I'll go in the bushes before I pay that much for a toilet!!!

Yipes! I didn't check into the pricing on them. With it being a new model, they are testing the waters. When they don't sell too many of them, they will lower the price.

Camping World has the Aqua-Magic Residence for $189.99 to $199.99 on sale. It is in there 2013 Master Catalog.

Hey Bear,

Maybe you don't need a new toilet. Sounds like the price you saw scared the */!x%#$ out of you.:D The previous post said that Camping World has them much cheaper. I googled the "residence" toilet and found these prices :
Amazon: 215.33 Camping World: 189.99 PPL: 183.59 RVupgradestore: 169.99 and American RV 174.95. I'm sure these prices do not include shipping. Just let your fingers do the walking. Hope your heart has stopped racing and calmed down a bit. Have a good one..............
