Spent seven hrs yesterday preping for the patch on our rubber roof. Took out screws and 20 ft. of trim insert. Cleaned everything up with alcohol. Area of rips is where the roof turns over the side. We used a product from our rv dealer called Quick Roof for rubber roof. One roll is 6inches by 16 ft. The website is www.cofair .com We used 1 and 1/4 rolls of the self stick rubber patch. This a tricky spot to do repair and we found we could slightly adjust the patch as needed. Defenitely a two person job. I would have rather used Externabond, but wouldn't have been able to adjust as needed. DH got to use his big floor roller again.!! Today we will make a run to our HiLo dealer to pick up more lapseal and a new 20ft.trim strip. All the screws removed from the metal strip were rusty. Had a box of 1 and 1/4 inch stainless steel screws left over from our restoration. I think we are leaning towards putting a new rubber roof on ourself in the spring of 2013. Watched a video of Mark polk RV education installing a new rubber roof on his 1966 Yellowstone trailer. Should have said rewatched. Made it look somewhat easy!!!! We are not naive. When we cut the rubber roof I full well expect to have to replace the underlay and deal with any interior roof dammage. Have all winter to get our self psyched up for this repair. Cost so far about $100.00
