While surfing the RV Net Forum I came across a reference to this website:

Good Article! If you've been camping for a number of years you've probably had all kinds of bad experiences with electrical connections. I've found that the 30amp outlet is usually well worn and connections are marginal. A lot of the 30amp outlets are using 20amp breakers. I carry a 50 to 30 amp adapter cable and use it where contacts are loose for the 30 amp, plus you won't pop the breaker with a 50amp breaker to draw on. When the microwave moans it's time to check the voltage. I've seen it as low as 90 volts. That's when you request another site.

Yep! The 90 volts would be a sure fire way to burn out the A/C. It is wise to check the voltage before hooking up anything of value.

Thanks for sharing the info. about that website. I've been lucky so far with electrical supplies... none that I knew were incorrect, but then with our old 19footer, there isn't anything that coulde harmed by surges, polarity issues, or incorrect voltage. It only has light bulbs and heater coils...built before electronics were used in travel trailers! Our new-to-us 2704T is another matter...and prior to the next camping excursion, I'll be assembling the power checker and using it hence forth! Jim
