We're trying to lower the Hi-Lo but the cable won't release. It seems to come out and have a crimp that holds a loop for pulling, then the remainder is pushed back in the hole. Hopefully it shouldn't be attached to something too.

If the hydraulic fluid is low will it still release and lower or do I have a problem with the cable/safety bar itself?

We tried to lower it manually but that didn't work either.

Thanks!

Have you tried raising it a little first? Then Pulling and lowering at the same time.

Welcome to the Forum! Usually if you raise the top a little to take the weight off the safety catch it should release easily. If not not you need to crawl under and see what is going on. It may be rusted or bent, or the cable may be snagged on something, it is a very simple device. As you mentioned, you could be low on fluid and the top will not raise enough to release the catch. Be careful adding fluid in the up position as you can over-fill it and have a mess when the top goes down. The level should be about a half inch below the filler hole when the top is down.

Safety release

Thanks! We added hydraulic fluid and raised it a bit. The safety released perfectly. Now on to the repairs.
