I am looking into getting satellite TV for my home. We have cable but I would like to be able to have satellite TV when we travel. So I have a few questions.

I understand that if I get satellite TV installed at home I'll have a disc on my roof and two receivers will come with the package.

Do I have to tell the satillite company that I plan on using it for travel?

So (not wanting to remove a disc each time we travel) I must need an additional disc so when we travel I can use it for TV. My questions are, do I purchase it when I have satellite installed? Or do I buy it seperately?

I'll need to take a receiver with me? Do I take one of the ones installed in the house each time we travel or do I just buy an extra one?

Had cable all my life so I don't understand how you that have satellite TV do it. If I missed any questions I should have ask I'd appreciate your adding information that would make me smart on this topic.
Thanks in advance for your help.
God Bless

Papa,

Been there and done that. I bought a separate dish receiver [which we also used in our home], dish, tripod, and alignment tools and it worked very well for a while. Then the Dish Network stopped allowing you to receive the same subscription channels we had in our home when we connected it in a separate location. We finally quit dish over this and unexplained increases in our billing and went with cable that provides all our internet, cable TV, and telephone service. Every RV park we have stayed at since provides cable hook-ups and Wi-fi so it hardly seems worth the trouble any longer. As Bubbie said, it is sometimes better with no TV.
