Hi, new member here. I'm moving to Utah next wk from California and am planning on staying my first few nights in my 1980 Funlite Hilo. I am concerned I will not be warm enough bcuz they've still got snow. Does anyone how week insulated they are? Does anyone here have experience in calling hilo in snow? I do have a Big Buddy.

Welcome and hope you have a pleasant time camping in the snow. I've not done it, but I HAVE camped when overnight temperatures dropped into the 30s. In my trailer, the furnace kept me warm, but the trailer really has pretty poor insulation.

You'll have to be careful using a Big Buddy - it can emit carbon monoxide gas, which is odorless, and you could die with a buildup of that. If you have a furnace, that would be a better option.

Only use your big buddy propane heater if/when you get up during the night to take the chill off but DO NOT LEAVE IT ON and go back to bed. Pajamas or long underwear, socks, head covering and gloves plus a down comforter. Have all of your water lines winterized with the pink antifreeze. Check nighttime weather conditions and altitude. I have camped next to airstream trailers that froze when my Hi Lo did not. Do NOT take any chances as replacing frozen water lines is an expensive hassle plus a mess when you have water on the camper floor. Also, be careful towing but that is a story for another day.

Winter camping.

Be sure to leave your vents slightly open for proper ventilation. Do this no matter what type of heater you use.
