Stabilizer jacks on the cheap!

This is probably not a new idea, but I will post it anyway.

Our '84 Funchaser does not have factory stabilizers. It came to us with the screw stand jacks. I was not a fan.

I went to the local salvage yard and picked up 4 scissor jacks for $10 each. The all have 3/4 bolt heads on them, so paired with a cordless drill, I have a good set of stabilizers. Works like a charm, as they say.

That was a good idea. They are probably stronger than the factory mounted stabilizers. Just remember they for stabilizing not for lifting the trailer. I just snug the stabilizers and give them a part of a turn more to barely lift the trailer.

Interesting

Interesting idea, but I'm going to stay with the screw jacks. I have a screw jack in case of tire problems. But I'm thinking that the amount of space that 4 screw jacks are going to take up the watching out for dirt on the screw. Well it's something to think about. But I'm going to stay with the factory screw jacks.
Thanks to the manual postings I now know where to place the jacks. I sure was not placing them in the right spots under the hilo before.
