Didn't think I should start a new thread, but just ask here so in the same place. I am also having a problem lowering my trailer. I've had it for years so think I know what I'm doing : ) but it has been parked for about two years and up that whole time. I've recharged the battery, and it sounds like it's trying but doesn't come down. I tried again after reading this post. Tell it to go up a little, pull the cable, then tell it to go down... motor sounds but no movement. I don't even know where to look to see if something is binding. I had greased the cables underneath a few years ago and didn't see any problems or fraying then and haven't taken it very far since so doubt I broke anything. Any ideas? Thanks

clovis - Welcome to the forum! I'd rather have your lowering problem in its own thread, instead of an old one that may or may not have the same problem cause.

When you say, "...it sounds like it's trying...", I need more information. Your description of your problem sounds like the top has dropped a bit during the time it was up and is binding on the safety bar.

So, you need to first try to RAISE the top fully. When you press the "UP" switch, do you hear the motor running? It should sound a bit like a high pitched "squeal". Then, WHILE you are holding the UP switch with the motor running, are you able to pull the safety cable out? You should feel it move and release if you can do this, and you will have to HOLD the safety cable pulled out while you change the position of the UP/DOWN switch to "DOWN". If that works, the top will start down and you can release the safety cable once the top has dropped a few inches.

There is not much sound when the DOWN switch is pressed, except for a small "click" as the lowering valve opens. The motor does not run during this process.

I might not have kept the UP on long enough (just long enough to know the motor was running). I will try again tomorrow with the above instructions. Thanks
