I was reminded of this on the irv2 forum. Many of you will be leaving for extended or short time camping. Don't forget to turn off the water electric and gas in your home before departing. Many have come home to burst pipes, split washing machine hoses, split hot water tanks, flooded basements ect. It is also a good idea to disconnect the water at your campsite if you will be gone for the day.

Thanks for the reminder. I always turn off all Water and the electric to the water heater. No gas at my house. I like to leave electric on for HVAC (set to run less) to prevent excessive humidity = mold or freezing in the winter. Also needed for the secuity system. Depending on time of year though you could turn your power off completely.

Utilites off or reduced for away times.

We have my adult neighbor in our house on a daily basis. He goes down to the basement to scoop the cat poop ect. I leave the central air on at a reduced rate for our two furry friends, spoiled cats!!
