Hello, I’m new to the forum and considering a 2208T in pretty good shape. Because of my garage, I need a removable tongue, but I’m concerned about what I’ve read about weight distributing hitches and removable tongues.

I’ve read that the additional pressure of the WD hitch can weaken/create issues for the removable tongues.

Can anyone confirm/deny that it’ll be an issue?
Thanks

Welcome to the Forum!

I have never heard of any issues with the HiLo removable tongues. I would say that if they were properly designed and built there should be no issues. Finding a 22' HiLo with that would somewhat difficult because were probably not many made. There are probably some out there but finding any on the sales block would be hard to find. Who knows?

I DO know that my 17ft model with a removable tongue would not accept the "L-brackets" used by my Equal-I-Zer WD anti-sway hitch. So, I got a trailer with the standard tongue instead. The folks where I bought the trailer would not recommend any other kind of hitch. (Possibly, they just had a "deal" with the Equal-I-Zer folks, but I've been happy with the hitch.)
