Wife and I along with our Daughter and Family went boondocking near Dugas AZ . Elevation 4000 high desert. Several creeks wind through the area , with lots of trees that were changing colors. Good area to explore and hike. The old homestead of the Dugas ranching family is still there to see .
Dirt roads are the only way in , and the spots close to the creek and other good areas do get a little rough , but 2 wheel drive truck is fine. We had a great camp close to the creek with lots of trees. Arizona has so much open land that boondocking spots are endless.

Nice pictures, Tom. They sort of remind me of the Ghost town of Ruby, which is a LONG drive over a very poor dirt road to get to. It has very similar vegetation, but also a small lake.

An old character of a caretaker lives there and he'll talk your ear off if you stand upwind and let him. ;)

Dugas looks like it has about five buildings? (Ruby's bigger). :D

We've camped in Camp Verde just to the North of Dugas and spent a bit of time in THAT area.

Ain't the wild west grand? I have neighbors at home I don't need them camping.

Boondock camping

Thanks for taking and posting the pictures. Wish we could go camping in the cold rainy north. Most all of the campgrounds are closed and our HiLo is winterized.

Been exploring Arizona all my life but must admit I had to google Dugas. Thanks for the trip report and geography lesson:)
