Wood vs aluminum studs

Hello all fellow campers! I understand that Hi-Lo started placing aluminum corner studs or supports (I'm not a contractor so sorry for the terminology) in the newer hi-lo units. Does anyone recall the year that started? I'd like to keep the weight factor down and I know our 2008 2208T has the aluminum corner posts so I'm guessing 2007 or 2008?

Since we are looking to upgrade to a larger unit like a 28 or 31 I wanted to find out.

Thanks in advance and happy camping!

Hi Lo started with aluminum framing in 2000 for both models, Classic and TowLite. Before that Classic (FunChaser) models had steel framing. TowLite models from 1993 t0 about 1998 had wood framing. Only the TowLite models with wood framing were lighter, hence the name. Look in the Library at the brochures. Classic models were heavier due to being wider and more elegant inside.

wood vs aluminum

Wow I thought our 2008 2208T Towlite was lighter without the wood framing. Interesting..............

My 215T wood framing weighs 3400 lbs empty. My 2209T aluminum framing weights 3800+ empty. There is a foot difference in length and both have almost identical options, except the 2209 has an Oven, so in reality they weight about the same if everything was equal.

Aluminum is best, it doesn't rot when you get a leak. It's not studs but welded together aluminum tubing for the framing.
