Gas Prices
I know we all like to complain about gas prices when they are high, but thought it might be fun to hear what prices are currently like in your neck of the woods?
A gallon of gas in our area is now cheaper than a gallon of milk! I bought unleaded for $2.99 in the California central valley this weekend. Thought I'd never see under 3 bucks in California again but I'm sure most of you can beat that price!

Greg, there was an article in our newspaper (The Commercial Appeal) last week when gas prices bottomed out at $2.39 at a few stations in south Memphis. Mostly it was in the neighborhood of $2.49 or so and that is where it is today. Tough noogies that we burn diesel I guess. It doesn't seem to vary much.

Where my neighborhood joins the main four way Loves just built a truck stop -coincidentally, directly across the street from another truck stop.
Before they opened last month, gasoline in our town was typically 12 cents higher than in the nearby city. Competition has now put our towns gas prices about 5 cents lower than that same city. So we've really seen prices come down.
I noticed last Friday that reg. gas was $2.69/gal. I don't use diesel so don't know what it's running.

Yikes! Regular gas is still $3.17 here in Pine. $3.19 in Payson. It was $2.89 at Costco in Tucson a week ago.

Gas prices
We get our gasoline at the Indian reservation. It is tax free. Paid 3.29 this week. We are always higher than the national average. Our congressman told us it is because we are at the end of the pipeline. Gas prices are lower in an election year. I heard one report that they will remain low until spring time. Figures, just in time for the travel season!!

Way down south here on the Texas Gulf Coast it is @ $2,55 a gallon. In the town where i live it is all chemical refineries and we make it here. Unfortunately now it all goes in the pipeline where it is pumped to Houston, then has to be trucked back to Texas City so we pay more than Houston. In the 70's, Amoco had a station here on the outskirts of the plant where you could buy it directly from the plant. Then BP took over and it all went into the pipeline.

I have to pay west coast prices.
Lowest seen is $3.35/gas, and $3.69 for diesel.
But that is nice since it is not uncommon for it to be above $4. And if I drive to San Fran is closer to $4.50.
In May, on our long trip, I paid $3.18, in the unlikely place of Lake of the Ozarks. Tourist towns usually are more expensive.
We are heading to Florida again this Feb and hope the prices will hold out. But now I have a diesel and its price is not as low. But, hopefully, the mileage will be better.

I have a '99 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a straight 6 in it that gets the horrible mileage of 15 MPG all the time according to the onboard computer mileage meter. Believe it or not, when I pulled the Hi Lo the first time in October, my mileage only dropped a few 10ths of a MPG while pulling the trailer. I have wondered ever since if that thing is defective. LOL

A new low in our area. Filled up the Tahoe with unleaded for $2.77/gallon. Loving it!

Gas prices
Monday we filled up our tank V8 truck for 3.00 and 9/10. This is indian gas with no tax. Regullar stations are about 3.25. The price seems to fall weekly. Our congressman was looking into to our high price some months ago. The answer was we are at the end of the pipeline way up north.

Jim, where in the area of the Keys do you find a reasonably priced RV site to stay? We have stayed on Big Pine Key for a few nights the last few years, but they are inching towards $100 per night. We've had to back pedal up to Okeechobee for our three months.

We stayed at Long Key State Park last December. Beautiful, private sites all right on the water. Super clean bathrooms. I think we paid around $35/night water and electric.

We stayed a couple nights at Long Key a few years ago, but they are pretty hard to get, as a matter fact they are SOLD OUT! Imagine an RV park that is sold out in the area of the Keys.
