Gas Prices

We don't take the HiLo to the Keys. We rent a 4 bedroom house for at least 1 month and keep it full with family and friends. Always on a canal or the bay and we take a boat for fishing. This is our 9th year of going down and 5 of those years we stayed 2 months and other family members stayed for 3 months. When you rent for 1 to 3 mos you can get a real deal. This year we have a beautiful house and it runs $40.00 per night per bedroom. It sure beats the 16 degrees here this morning. We have always stayed on Key Largo.

Jim, where in the area of the Keys do you find a reasonably priced RV site to stay? We have stayed on Big Pine Key for a few nights the last few years, but they are inching towards $100 per night. We've had to back pedal up to Okeechobee for our three months.

If you have access to military facilities, I believe there are a couple of military RV parks in the Keys. Not sure about prices or availability though.

I paid 2.499 at Costco last week. Better enjoy while we can. As soon as OPEC runs the U S Oil producers out of business, prices will increase, if not sooner.:(

Very true, at some point it will be cost prohibitive to keep producing oil in the US and Canada. Once facilities are shut down, the price of crude needs to go way up before it makes business sense to invest the money required to re-start.

Keep in mind that these lessons work both ways, IE: when these oil producers start over-pricing their product - there are alternatives. In the future they'll better walk a fine line.

I didn't need any but yesterday I saw a station at $2.09.

In the Memphis area we have $1.99 to $1.89 all over the southern half of the city, and even the "upper crust" stations are in the $2.05 range. $2.69 diesel prices put a smile on my face until DW told me what our energy stocks had done in the last 12 weeks.

The plunge continues: $2.11 at our local Tehachapi Fastrip station.

I'll continue to enjoy it while I can as California instituted a new tax on gasoline this month which widens the price gap between us and the rest of the country. It's going to be brutal when prices go back up!

It was $1.759 at Costco in Tucson this week! Wish I had a 10,000 gal tank at home that I could fill up at today's prices.

I took my Toyota to my grandson last week. I paid $1.64 just a block off of I-80 In Nebraska.
Only one fill up over $1.89/per gallon in the 1600 mile journey.

I have recently change to diesel, and it doesn't get discounted nearly as much as un-leaded. But did fill up diesel at $2.85/pg.
