Hello and welcome. I removed the post you put in another thread on this issue since we've found that duplicate posts or threads on the same problem can lead to incomplete information that can waste your time and cost you extra money. Let's keep this discussion here please. And I'm moving it to a section that relates specifically to the lifting system, where you should get better replies. I know your system is not hydraulic, but we don't have a "manual lift" section.
I would suspect some problem along one of the lift cables, rather than something wrong in the "shaft". My guess is, when this problem area on the cable hits a pulley, it binds on it and that's what you are feeling. Are you able to inspect the ENTIRE LENGTH of each cable? If so, and there's no defect, then the problem DOES lie elsewhere.
Cables usually break where they go over the upper pulleys, which are only visible when you take off the interior trim strips that cover them.
