    Andersen 'No-Sway' Weight Distribution Hitch

I just got an Andersen 'No-Sway' Weight Distribution Hitch. I've used conventional weight distributing hitches (spring bars) on my previous travel trailer, as well as my Hi-Lo. I got the Andersen hitch because I'm tired of lugging heavy spring bars, even heavier ball mounts, etc. I've towed...

    weight issues again?

Another thing to do is weigh one axle at a time on a scale. On a simple scale (one weighing pad) I pull forward and stop at each axle. The operator then records each weight in succession: 1- Tow Vehicle front axle, 2- TV total, 3- TV total plus trailer front axle, TV and trailer total. By...

    best tires ?

If you look at other trailer sites you will find stories of blowouts with virtually every brand trailer tire out there. Trailer tires have a hard life and it is not unusual to have them blow out. I'd go with what you can afford and try to go to a load range D tire (10 ply) if possible. Check...

    Lights won't work on 12Volt

There are fuses available nowadays with an indicator light that glows when the fuse blows: 15 Amp ATC / ATO Fuse With Indicator Light. Make sure that this isn't what you are seeing. If the fuse does not have an indicator light a red glow means that the load in the circuit is too high, but not...

*HELP* Where is my VIN ?

Most agencies will not rely on decals when verifying a VIN. They want to see the permanent number on the frame. On trailers this is usually close to the tongue.

    Lock Problems

Rich, what do you mean by the flipper? Are you referring to the door pull on the lock or the deadbolt knob on the inside? I use a spray recommended by my local safe and lock company. It is graphite in suspension in a solvent. After it is sprayed the solvent quickly evaporates leaving the...

    Lock Problems

The cover is part of the problem, but not totally. If the key is inserted I can move the cover to the side with a small dental pick so it is not touching the key. Even after doing this there is a huge amount of force required to extract the key. Moreover, it takes a lot of force to turn the...

    Holding your water

While the tanks are in the forward part of the trailer, the are a few feet aft of the hitch. I think that you will find that the effect on the hitch weight is not that much. My Hi-Lo manual says that towing with full waste tanks should be avoided, but it does not state anything about fresh...

    Lock Problems

My 2408T came with a Fastec Industrial Corporation (FIC) entry door lock. Last time we went camping the deadbolt jammed and we had to get a locksmith to open the trailer. After he disassembled the lock we realized that the deadbolt mechanism was binding, even though it was well lubricated. I...

    Holding your water

Since my wife and I prefer to camp in undeveloped areas we have always traveled with a full water tank. We've done this with 3 RVs (2 trailers, 1 motorhome) without any issues whatsoever. Raul

    Bridge Collapse Photos

Here are some photos of the bridge recovery and repair effort on I-5 in WA (about 40 miles north of me). Notice the damage sustained by the travel trailer that fell in the river with the Ram pickup: I-5, Skagit River Bridge - a set on Flickr Raul

    Leaving Hi Lo forum

Are you going to tow a car with your MH? My wife and I enjoyed a mini-motorhome that we had a numbers of years ago. It was definitely nice to pull up to a site, level the motorhome (More complicated than on a trailer), and be ready. On the other hand, we did not enjoy "breaking down the...

    Propane tank threading....?

Not always, the old style gas tank fittings are left hand thread. The new style ones are right hand thread. The new ones also do not require a wrench. Old: http://www.rv-motorhome-answers.com/images/oldservicevalve.jpg New...

    Propane tank threading....?

Jeff is correct; they are left hand threads. Once you remove the tanks you will need to buy two new hoses that go from the regulator to the tanks. These will have the new style tank fittings. Raul

    Help

I've been able to get adjusters to increase values by showing them ads of similar vehicles that are for sale. Go to rvtrader.com, craigslist, etc. and look for similar trailers. Go up and down a few years and in trailer length if you can't find one like yours. The idea is to get as many ads...

    Cable fabrication

I see that you are in Reno. See if there is a marine supply store in the Lake Tahoe area that makes cables for sailboats. Many of these make cables.

Large stain that looks like oil on cement under trailer??

Find a tractor/farm implement dealer. They deal with hydraulic systems all the time and can fix this easily.

Refrigerator door lock for rough roads

On my first RV I had a refrigerator that did not lend itself to using a pin as suggested by Tom. Instead, I used one of these patio door/sliding door latches. They are available at places like Ace Hardware: http://www.hardwareworld.com/files/pi/bO/3/RNHC.jpg Safety Latches, Registry®, Patio...

    Larger roof vent replacement.

I think you will find that yours is a 22X22 vent. This is a standard size but it is not as common as the 14X14 size. Do an internet search for, "RV roof vent 22 inches," and you will see some results. Here is an example: Elixir Vents. Raul

    Roof Repair

I washed our 2408T yesterday for the first time. The roof was very clean, since the trailer has always been under cover. As I was scrubbing, I noticed a few areas where the roof paint was a bit rougher than in other areas. These were generally circular areas, ranging from 1-2" diameter. It...

Large stain that looks like oil on cement under trailer??

Don't be surprised if the leak magically goes away. Hydraulics that sit for a long time often leak as a result of seals relaxing a bit. This is particularly true with the seals on hydraulic cylinders. Once pressure is applied and they are cycled a few times things may go back to normal. Raul

Large stain that looks like oil on cement under trailer??

I am suggesting that it may not be a leak. I spilled a bit of fluid while filling the reservoir. This puddled under the reservoir and slowly dripped out the battery/pump box. The previous owner could have done the same thing Raul

Large stain that looks like oil on cement under trailer??

The "leak" could be nothing more than spilled fluid from servicing the hydraulic reservoir. Don't ask how I know this. :(
