    New to RVs and Hi-Lo

HiLo left in up position. When it is left up for prolonged periods of time, it leaves all the cables and pulleys under stress. If you do leave it up for more than a couple of days, or even a week, you might do as I have done. Raise the top, measure the space between the frame and the...

    Screen door slide?

Mine broke a couple years ago, I went to a local RV parts center and bought one. It appears that the majority of all models are the same size. Take your old one with you to match it with. Hope this helps.

    Do I need 2 batteries

Manual crank I'm not aware of any Hi-Lo that doesn't have a manual pump jack to raise the top and a release valve to manually lower it. The pump jack is built onto the electric pump.

    New to the group

We have towed our 2003 29 ft Classic with a 2014 5.0, since it was a day old without a lick of problem. If you tow with an equalizer hitch and sway bar, I don't believe you will have a problem. Just be sure any load you carry inside the camper is equally distributed over the length of the camper.

    Safety Bar Cable

If the top is up for more than a couple of hours, it will usually settle down onto the safety bar requiring the slight lifting of the top to allow the release of the safety bar.

    Shopping From Afar?

Toe vehicle Hello Mutt, this may be too late for your decision input, but if not FYI I we have had three Hi-Lo's, the present a 29 ft. Classic. I have towed all three with a F150, current model W/ 5.0. Never had any difficulty. I'll admit I haven't done a lot of mountain climbing, but have...

Lift "Piston" for the hydraulic ram ~ 1999 29 C Also a replacement main door lock

Hydraulic Ram If you haven't found your ram, if you have a hydraulic service company anywhere near where you live, they can probably fix you up. If you can't locate a service facility, call your local large tractor dealer (Case, Kubota etc.), they can probably point you in the right direction.

Can solar panels go on the roof of a Hi-Lo?

Solar One thing most don't consider, with the one inch clearance leaves and trash tend to collect under the center of the panels and cause the metal roofs to rust through and rubber to deteriorate.

    Tank capacities and replacements

Vent solution If you haven't already taken care of this, you really don't need to vent your grey water tank. If you have access to one of your cabinets, you can install a vacuum break. The valve itself needs to be installed as close to the underside of the counter top as possible.

    Pulley Sizes

Pulleys Hi Savage, if I remember correctly I used 16 of the 5RRX8 and there were four of the 4JX69 saddle type. You should be able to get an exact count by crawling underneath the trailer, they are all exposed. One note the new pulleys don't squeeze the cable like the old ones, I could not...

    Pulley Sizes

I do not remember the shaft size, but I replaced my pulleys and cable a couple of years ago. I used stainless steel cables. The pulley part numbers for those I used were 5RRX8 for the lower pulleys and 4JX69 for the upper saddle units. You can Google these numbers and get the specs. Hopt...

    What type of freon for a 1990 229L Hi-Lo

A/C Refrigerant Sorry you loose, most all A/C's prior to 2000 would be R22, but better check the model tag. The cycling off and on is normal, if the room temp is comfortable, you are in good shape.

Bent Hydraulic Ram and snapped off cable connectors

A buddy of mine used to work for one of the Hi-Lo dealers. He tells of the time the dealer's shop replaced the floor in a customer's Hi-Lo. The shop guys did the normal clean up after the job, but one of the guys left a broom standing in the corner next to the refrigerator, and proceeded to...

    lift system not working

I know it's been a while since you posted, but if you haven't gotten your answer, yes I have had this same problem and yes it was a bad seal in the lift cylinder. It's not a fun job, but if you are up to the challenge, you can pull the cylinder off and take it to a local hydraulic service shop...

    Mounting Solar Panels

One word of caution: My factory installed panel quit working so I removed it, at which time I determined the roof panel had several pin holes rusted through the metal. This was caused by dirt and debris that had accumulated between the solar panel and the roof. So I would suggest if you do...
