1988 HiLo Funlite....won't raise after I lowered to clean top...
Help please! I am trying to get our 88 funlite ready for weekend trip...not used in 4 years, my sweet husband has Alzheimer's & Parkinson's and he is not able to help me...
He always did this...but I am trying to take him camping just one more time~~~ he keeps asking to go! So I get it cleaned, packed and ready....lowered top just fine...then thought I'd better be sure it raises good since it's just me doing setup, well...it won't go back up...I have battery, power source, have check lines, cables etc....even bled hydraulic line and replaced fluid...
Motor runs and it " tries" to lift...but NOT!
Please, any ideas? I hate to disappoint him......thanks y'all!

How old is the battery?
If the pump was able to allow the raising enough to lower it, the pump works.
Check the voltage at the battery with a multimeter for voltage.
Have you charged the battery lately?

You see where I am going with this.
Most likely the battery, connection, state of charge!

But above all,,,,,take that man camping,,,, happiness is just a fleeting moment!

Check to make sure nothing is stuck between top & bottom or that nothing fell between top & bottom when you lowered your hilo. On outside back of my hilo I have a storage door & one time when I lowered my hilo I didn't get the back storage compartment locked & when I tried to raise hilo the door opened enough that it caused hilo not to raise. I had to climb into hilo with top down & lay on bed & stick flat piece of metal between top & bottom to hold storage door closed while someone else pushed button to lift hilo. Please let us know what the problem was & how you fixed it.

what do you mean the motor is trying to raise it. Does the motor sound like normal or does it sound sluggish. Or is it making the pressure release sound that happens when the top is all the way up? You might just need to adjust the pressure release valve. Mine wouldn't go up very well when i first got it, because the relief valve was opening too easily.

I'm not giving up! Found that my hydraulic fluid has leaked out! Took pump off and the canister had tiny holes in it! Pump works...but I need to replace the canister! How can I find one? Help? Pa still wants to go camping, and we will....it's all cleaned and ready, just need my pump repaired so top will go up!! Thanks y'all for any help you can give!

If the holes are very small and you can get the outside of the canister very clean of oil you can get some stuff called JB Weld and put a little over the holes. It will last for a while as long as it goes on a clean surface. It comes in 2 tubes and you squirt out equal parts and mix it together. Then just put a dab of it on the holes and let it cure 24 hours. It's only 5 or 6 bucks at any Lowes or Home Depot.

Holes in hydraulic fluid reservoir

I am going for JB Weld now! Praying this works! Thanks for the advice!

holes in hydrolic canister

JB Weld is sold at Walmart. This should be the cheapest price. Automotive stores also sell this. Good luck with your repair.
