1st camper is a Hi-Lo !

Hi all! New here although I've been lurking for a few months.

Recently got a good deal on a 2004 22TT and really diggin it!

No more sleeping in the truck with the wife!

For now I do a lot of trail riding and have been taking my rear tailgate off the short bed when I take the camper out.

Seriously thinking about adding a rear track (to the frame) that'll hold my 220 pound bike.

From here it's looking pretty nice.Congrats and welcome. Personally, Id rather have that bike weight as close to the cab as I can get it------but that may be tricky to do. I assume you have a weight distribution hitch so I would want to set the hitch up with weight already loaded to get everything as level as I can.

Thanks Rick! I've thought it out and have 4 options . . .

1. Keep doing what i'm doing. With the tailgate off the rear wheel just barely sticks out when the bike is in at an angle. I'd just really like to use my tonneau cover.

2. Gut out the inside to where I can fit my bike inside the camper, just have to make sure there are no leaks and the carb is drained/tank is empty. Yea the wife doesn't agree with this one.

3. Add the rail to the frame at 2 points keeping the handlebars/bike as close to the camper as possible (i'd even consider shortening them).

4. loading the bike on top of the camper, but that's just crazy talk.

ahh, the beauty of these forums. I'd never considered that. I will definitely research the pros and cons. you rock Rick!

I have read quite a bit regarding adding a hitch to the frame and that it's pretty much ok as long as one keeps the weight down.

I did read that if you do go heavy in the rear to compensate as much as possible by loading up the front (for ex: two full bottles of propane,adding water and dual batteries).

I do have a weight distribution hitch setup.

Thatguy welcome to the forum. You have a beautiful trailer. I'm with your wife about not gutting it. Glad our forum members were able to come up with an idea for your trail bike. The back of the RV frame isn't designed for additional weight. I know this wasn't one of your ideas. Post often and best of luck with all your camping adventures.

I agree with your wife also, don't gut it! How about she rides the bike and follows you to the campground?
