Hi, sam. I was hoping to get some idea of which converter WAS in there so when I call Best I could find a near direct replacement. The converter is gone, and even the mounting holes can't be found. Wires are cut and there's a lot of them just laying under the table. And the diagrams we DO have leave a lot of info out. No problem, it'll just a bit longer.

Tree, I THINK all of the more recent HiLos come with 45A converters. They are plugged into 30A service at hookups of course. Having a converter that has larger capacity than needed does not hurt anything, as I'm sure you know. The actual Amperage that flows is entirely dependent on the appliances you have installed in the trailer. As long as you stayed close to OEM equipment in that respect, you'd be fine.

Of course, if you choose to upgrade all the installed wiring with heavier stuff, you could use equipment with a higher Amp draw.

FYI After several hours of needed maintenance underneath, lubing cables, sanding and greasing the guide rod and cleaning/lubing the piston shaft (it does have some bad blemishes on the chrome) it works. A new pump ($300) from Northern tools. I'm happy to report the raise and lowering system is working near perfect, even with all the rot inside. All external lighting has been checked/rewired and converted to LEDs. Now waiting on the Boondocker converter and Prime just delivered the new Blue Seas fuse panel. Ready to camp? Not yet. Figure a month to re-skin the whole interior. Thanks for all the support my friends.

Your HiLo looks good after a bath. A little TLC goes a long way. Keep us posted. Helps us to endure before the camping season starts. Have you ever had to rebuild walls before.

Just a bit of an update on the '86. New hydraulic pump with wired control box is a welcome change to the standard way of raising and lowering. I do it at a distance so I have a visual advantage. I still pull the cable for safety release, but then I can stand back and watch the lowering even to the back of the trailer.
Suspect the mags on the brakes have burned out. With full power going to them, brake controller has little effect. Can still move the trailer at idle with the brake-away pulled. 4 new brakes and new hardware from etrailer ($130) are on the way. 4 brakes!! that's about $26 each!
Inside is striped, except folding couch and dinette table and cabinetry. Sure is light now
So, all exterior lighting and brakes, Air conditioner, sur-flow pump, range exhaust fan/lite works. But it's a start. NC, here I come! (in 2 weeks)!
