Hi All, Treeclimber here! upon extending my awning, I found that the upper rafters have been shortened for whatever reason. I think that they may have been damaged at some point and where cut off to continue using the awning. It works, only it does not extend to full length. I want to make it right but can't find the correct part number. I only know that it is a "tall" version. No pamphlet, so I'm not sure if it's an A&E 8500 or a 9000. Can't find any numbers anywhere, but I'm pretty sure it's a tall 8500. Just looking for the upper rafters. Dometic needs the model Number.
Anyone know how to discover which model I have or where a number would be?
Thanks for any help from the forum.

Tree, I don't think I'm sure of what you mean by "rafters". Are you possibly talking about the supports that you manually extend on each side of the awning to lift the roller end of it up?

I had to get some "parts" for my awning - the attachment "hinges" at the top and bottom of the side of the trailer because I broke one of them backing into my fence here the first time I tried it. I had the same problem you have, I couldn't find the model number. I settled for finding parts that looked like the ones on my trailer and surprise - they worked!

I think my awning is an A&E 8500 too, at least that's the number I seem to remember that was associated with the parts I got.

Did you find a tag on the underside of the awning fabric next to where it mounts on the channel? That may help to track it down. Maybe contacting Dometic could get you some help.

One of my campers has it on the metal cylinder that the vinyl rolls up on. On that one you have to roll the thing all the way out and then there is a tag there. On my Hi-Lo I have right now there is a Tag on the front support bar. I'm not home right now but here is a picture that partially shows the tag. Its pretty obvious though.

RichR, I called Dometic and Sarah needs to knoe the model number cause there are so many awnings that it could be. She sent me two parts breakdowns so I'm checking those out, but opening the awning and looking for numbers where you suggest will help. I'll let you know in a few. Thanks!
