My freezer cools very nice but the frig never seems to keep up. I'm thinking about removing the freezer door and let it all work as one. Is this a bad idea??

I went into battle with the refrigerator late this spring. Mine just overcooled. And froze everything, everywhere all the time.

Let me suggest checking where the thermostat thermocouple ends. It runs from the control up top and across the outside top of the unit, then down the back of the unit where it pops through and then up into aluminum fins in the back (that you can see inside the fridge).

Maybe, if you pull that little thermocouple wire down from the freezer compartment a bit (like an inch or so) and still keep it tight in the aluminum fins, it will be more apt to keep things cooler in the fridge unit, but still keep the freezer frozen.

Apologies if your unit isn't set up like the one on my 2000. Maybe this will help though.

I replaced my original fridge a few years ago (it went south) with a compact home refrigerator made by Frigidaire purchased at Lowe's. The freezer section works excellent, the refrigerator section,...not so good, especially if it's over packed. But I found a solution that seems to be working very well; I put a small computer fan (120mm) at the rear of the fridge to move the cold air around. That improved the fridge's temperature a great deal! The food items stored towards the front of the refrigerator and on the fridge door stay a lot colder!

Texas, if your fridge is like mine, there's a small hole in the back where a tube? runs through that I used to route the wires to a computer fan that I put in mine.
