Answering your questions.

Do a search for each of your questions. Some members have had to replace awning fabric. I have a 26ft Classic model. Yours is a Towlite.

Jerry - when you say, "...we raised it up with problems...", what "problems" did you have?

The top should lower without having to crawl under the trailer, you should be able to simply pull the safety bar release lanyard to start that, unless the top has settled on the bar. If it has, just raise the top off the bar and then pull the release lanyard. I don't think the unit has to be particularly level to raise or lower the top, but mine always is.

I like my awning and use it any time we camp. When you say it, "bit the dust", what part failed? Is it just the fabric or have the mechanical parts broken? I've never had to replace mine, but some here have.

It seems that is what had happened is that it had settled back onto the bar. I had tried going up before lowering but apparently the release lever wasn't releasing properly that is why I was wondering if it was a "reasonably level" problem as we were parking it at a storage facility which happens to be a horse ranch and the ground is not level. My wife was able to get the bar to properly release when she was able to turn the bar and then it worked as it should.

As for the awning the fabric was disintegrated as the trailer had been sitting for 6 years unused when we bought it. Also the brackets on the bottom were severely bent and the side arms were bent as well. Our RV mechanic said that it was not repairable. We do have a 12 x 12 portable canopy that we will use until we can get it fixed.

Speaking of which what is the current value of a 2703T that is in good condition? Just curious to see if we got a good deal or not now that we have put new tires and done all the repairs, except the awning.

The awning that was on there was a 20 ft. When we get back from our trip we will look into getting an awning. But for now we will take our 12 x 12 canopy with us for shade.
