Why not make the lift points out of thick aluminum instead of wood. As mentioned in the thread above the rail other than the lift points is boxed aluminum which will last forever.
When I had the cables replaced, they put thicker ones on which will increase strength and life.
The Monarch lift pump seems to be first rate. It will lift a much heavier load than the top half of trailer.
It would probably only added another 100.00 to the cost of what the original owners paid which was 24000.00
Over the years Hilo improved the structure of the rails and moved from entirely wood (which I've read in this forum some have replaced after it rotted out) to some wood.
But I still like the ease with which it tows and will keep camping in it til I can't.
