need camp info for trip

I think it's fascinating how many of these Pueblo ruins are in the Southwest. And, the fact that they were ALL abandoned at about the same time in history, 1200-1300AD, is really beyond understanding.

Two other ruin sites I've visited are Betatakin and the ruins in Canyon de Chelly. There are also surface ruins on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon that I've been to, but they're not very spectacular.

There's so much in this marvelous Country of ours to see. Wish I had another lifetime to do it.

out of Tx and Ok and now in Mo.

to lake of the ozarks for Memorial day. Meeting an old friend that haven't seen since 1971, post Vietnam.
Leaving 6-1-2014 for Mt Rushmore/devils thumb, then on to Yellowstone. Get many positive comments on the old hi-lo.
It has been a great trip for the wife to visit family and old friends.
Still have 1/1.5 months to go. Or we may just turn a different direction and end up in ?????????

I consider that I had the hi-lo very prepared for this trip and it has paid off well!

trlr costs me 4-5 mpg hit when towing on the hywy, but have been averaging 13-14 mpg for entire trip. Good enough! Not to bad for a >210K mile truck.

Now get your butts up and go camping!

A great trip. If you are headed to Rushmore why not go up to wisconsin/minn on your way.? Lake Superior is spectacular . Check out the boundary waters. THEN head across the Dakotas and down to Rushmore.

I know! They are so mystical you can feel the spirits walking with you. A Anasazi artifact collector (grave robber) in Blanding ut -Earl Shumway, I think it was, said he dreamed many times of a medicine man reaching up from his sandy grave and grabbing him by the ankle.
If you are ever on the West end of I-70 right before it intersects I-15 is Fremont Indian St. Park. Right off the freeway and there is a box canyon covered with Pictographs and petroglyphs. I guess it was a freeway for the Fremont too.
