Hi I'm new to the Forum since I just bought a 1980 Hi-Lo FunChaser (i think) 19ft. I just getting used to it and never towed anything this big! My tow vehicle is a 1972 Dodge B300 Van, 5.9L (360ci) with a 3spd manual transmission and manual steering. before getting my Hi-Lo i used to camp in the van which still has a full size futon in it. So i still have three 3 full size bed to sleep in when camping. As time goes on I will be asking more question I'm sure.

Welcome to the Forum. There is a wealth of information here that comes from knowledgeable members, excluding me. Inquire, and they will respond.:)

I sure hope your 72 Dodge has enough brakes to stop the add weight of the Hi-lo? Just check to see if you have electric brakes on the Hi-lo? you might need to get a brake regulator to stop you.

You most definitely need some kind of trailer braking and a controller to activate it. I don't know if your trailer has electric or surge brakes, so you'll need to find that out and install accordingly.

I think trailer brakes are required by law on all trailers over 3000# in most states. They're certainly required in California for your size trailer.

You'll also need a Class III/IV hitch receiver installed on your vehicle and a Weight Distributing hitch with at least 600# tongue weight capacity.

I'd love to see a picture of your Hi-Lo hooked up to the van. That's just how I travel but I'm newer and longer. You have a nice classic package going there.
