Ordered a "Piston" for the hydraulic ram ~ Got a guide bar and a $376 Bill (closed)

Kinda bothers me when I spend almost $400 of my hard earned money, only to have it spent on the WRONG PART. And, not by my doing.
I talked with the guy on the phone. Explaining in detail, where the part was located, what it did, and which piece was bent and why.
And still??? He sends me the wrong part.
It wasnt till a couple months after ordering it...having it overnighted to Vegas...stored it in a trailer bound for Maui.
Got here two months later almost. So , I procrastinated a month or two before getting the gumption to change out the part. It was unchartered territory for me .
Anyway, I opened up the box....only to find a long solid skinny pole with a small hole in one end of it....The friggin GUIDE BAR ! NOT my hydraulic pushrod ! Dammit already man ! It cost me damn near $400 ! For what? Something I dont really need. Oh man was I........well.....not happy.
And then the icing on the cake. I go to call them. THEY ARE CLOSED !
wAHHHHHHH WAHHHHH
I think I've been Homer Simpsoned? What the hell is the world coming to?
Called a guy in S. Cali. about a ram...but damn if he doesnt want $500. Maybe if it was brand new? IDK.
Any ideas folks?

I may take this one out and see if I can find a repair shop....but on Maui? Yeah, right. Hope I am pleasantly surprised...but not holding my breath. Wish me luck! Aloha, Dave on Maui 29C

I had no problem getting mine fixed at a local hydraulic repair shop.
Yeah Maui will have them also.
Take the entire fixture. It may have to be honed out or ?
It is a simple repair and made of common parts!

Too bad about the release bar. that is a hard $400.

Hydraulic Rams

Hydraulic rams are pretty much standardized world wide by diameter of the ram. Seals, packings, and backup rings are standard repairs. If the ram casing needs honing, they can adjust the packings much as one does oversized rings in a car engine. You should have little or no problem finding a shop on Maui, at worst Oahu. The mere presence of a fishing, boating fleet, and the Military pretty much ensures repair shops on the islands.

Local shop ended up repairing for me, said it was a B#tch to find the correct diameter shaft as scoured island hI and Lo....pun intended,,,anyway, Mechanic ,ironically , is sitting down with his father drinking a beer...and is telling his dad about my job...his dad looks, and has correct sized shaft ( pushrod) Local machine shop cuts it to spec...and does screw in turning on it to screw into face plate for pulley wheels. $160! Was shocked and grateful.
