Very broad question but which are preferred years/models, also those less desirable and/or best to avoid.
Length/weight is not of much concern [have an old 2500 Suburban that had more or less 3500 upgrades at the factory]
I can be a mechanic but too long in the tooth to want to. Reliable, ease of use and ''live-ability' would be primary goal
Thanks in advance for any comments/help....

Do some online research. A lot is available.

I would stay away from anything made before 2000. That is when they started using an aluminum frame. Keep in mind that they stopped building at the original factory in 2010, I believe. I have a 2001, 24T and am happy with it. It was a bit of a project for me as I always like to make things a bit better.

Thanks for that. In fact purchased a 2005 27t one owner yesterday..which I collect tomorrow.
Only thing is roof vents were pierced thru with large hailstone's. Next thing is source a supplier for those.

I have a 2006 Hi Lo classic 23 C. My wife and I just want to go camping and enjoy. We just don't know how to operate it.What buttons are for what and the best way to operate and what does what.It has everything.we love it.just need guidance on what to run under some situations

While we welcome questions, you are going about camping totally wrong. You will discover you are mostly on your own when camping and have to rely on your own knowledge and abilities to manage problems. And, there WILL be problems!

The first thing you need to do is use your owner's manual to familiarize yourself with all the features of your trailer - and you need to be at your trailer operating things to do this. If you don't like reading, there is a set of utube videos found in Post #3 of this thread: HiLo "Video" owners manuals... youtube! - go through them ALL! While they are not specific to YOUR HiLo, they apply to almost all recent models.

When camping, you will need basic tools (pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers, a knife, a multimeter, etc.) and you will need to know how to use them.

Now, if there's something specific that you can't figure out, we stand ready to help you.

Welcome to the forum. When the weather permits camp in your driveway. Have a basic set of tools. Lube your cables and check all caulk for cracks. If you are out camping and run into a problem Most campers are friendly and willing to help. The vent covers are available on line. I always search the internet for the best prices. It helps if you are handy. If your windows have never been taken out and resealed you need to do this. This should be done when the RV is 5to6yrs old, You Tube has a tutorial on how to do this. If you don't do this you will suffer water intrusion and have major repairs to do. We are here if you have any questions.
