I'm not sure if someone has replaced the pulleys on my '81 but it seems like the top half hits them before it is able to reach the seal....any help would be appreciated.

This is what's happening is the top supposed to hit the pulleys? I don't want to snap a cable by trying to force it past that.

It should go far enough for the top and bottom seals to meet.

Are you coming to the HiLo rally in Colorado Springs. Starts Monday the 9th till Friday. Good place to get your questions answered. Its at the KOA just south of the spring

Didn't know about it until just now but I definitely might try and make it up there! Thanks for the heads up!

Top needs adjusting

The unit is new to us, and the second time we put the top half up, there was a loud bang.

The top still went up, and still does, but it is not full up. The front is fine, but the back end us about 2" down.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

John

If the top can still go up, but 2" short of topping out, I would suggest that you probably broke a pulley. And possibly 2.
Not a hard repair. JR has the pulleys and are very reasonable priced.

You will need to crawl under the rear of the trlr and check out if there is major slack in the cables. Look at the pulleys, and there a several for each cable.
You can do with the top down.
I wouldn't raise the top again until you find the damage and repair it.
