Rebulid Soft Walls

Hi I am new here and appreciate all the information that is out in this forum. Spent many hours reviewing the information as I tackle my new project to rebuild my low cost purchase 1998 26" classic HILO.

One of the biggest challenges of living in Canada is have accessability to all the products that are used in the forum (heavy duty liquid nails, lexal...) I wasted a lot of time trying to find these products here with many failed attempts to find a comparable product.

Talked to a major RV repair shop in Peterbourgh and mentioned my situation and they directed my to use a product by 3m called Fastbond Neutral 30 (30-NF). They have been using this for some time for all their relamination work with sucess assisiting with a nice vacuum seal. Wondering is anyone else has used it. I will post my results but it appears to do the trick. Bonds fiberglass to foam and foam to wood. Intresting enough you bond the surfaces only when both surfaces are dry . I want to see this.

It's a "contact adhesive" so it probably needs to "set" before bonding (like most contact adhesives). I see it's designed for marine use, so it should be pretty weatherproof.

WOW just checked on the price of 3m Fastbond Neutral 30 $55 a quart!!! If I were you I would google Liquid Nails Canada and see where they sell it. I went on their website, but Canada is a big area and we don't know where you are located.

Yeah not cheap however all I can find here is the All purpose Liquid Nails which is a no go. I wish I would have brought it over the boarder when I was down last month. I have already spend $40 on other adhesives that I thought would work. Rather get it over with.

I believe I'll get a better seal then using the caulking style adhesive especially by contacting it after it sets. I want a permenant fix so I'll spend a few extra bucks to get professional results.

I guess I am getting a deal. They are selling me a gallon for $170. 680 sqft coverage which will do my walls and roof + more.

HiLo restoration

That product by 3M sounds like a good product. They don,t make junk. Just expensive stuff!! Anyway you are doing your restoration in the summer and the heat is in your favor for drying. Maybe contact cement or regular liquid nails would have worked if we were doing our restoration in the summer. I,m glad we are finished as we have some "must do projects" this summer around our home. Please take pictures of the before and after and post often. Do you have to do the upper walls and interior roof and exterior roof?

Restoration

If you decide to come into the USA again I would be able to get you any materials you need. Another caulk that is(if my memory is correct) used is sikaflex? I recently saw this at Home Depot. I personally haven't used this,but wouldn,t hesitate to use this as some skilled trades people on our forum have recommended it. It was in the roofing section with the morter in a tube.

I've been bad with the pics. Will start snapping some. Will be doing one side and seeing what is up there in the roof to make sure there are no issues. The previous owner said he fixed it however i am not taking his word. Later this year I will finish the other side which is solid however just a poor job.
