Just joined the forum this morning and am a total rookie. We're just about ready to pull the trigger on purchasing an 05 22T. We live in Central Western Florida and we're wondering if it's ok to cover the HiLo with a plastic tarp to protect it from the sun...or is there a moisture issue with that also?

We bought an Adco custom fit RV cover for our 1707T through Camping World. I chose the one made of "Sunbrella" fabric. It fits extremely well and is warranted for 5 years.

It has been on our trailer out in the hot Tucson sun now for over 2 years and still looks and "feels" new. The material is very strong and has shown no tendency to tear. The tan color helps it blend in a bit with the desert landscaping in our "backyard". :)

I highly recommend this one, but suggest staying away from ones made of a different material.

Adco also makes one that is grey in color and warranted for 2 years. Stay away from that one; it will fall apart in less than 2 years in the Florida sun. I live in Odessa, Fl. which is the West Central part of Fl. I am building a permanent carport cover for mine; a painter's tarp made out of canvas is better than a bought cover from Adco. You can get these at Lowes. Put some grommets around the edges; get some tent waterproofing spray and treat the canvas and you're all set. Sure, they will rot over time; but it is still cheaper than buying a cover and dealing with ADCO after theirs falls apart.
There area lot of sharp objects on the HiLo that will overtime poke holes in any cover when the wind is blowing. Cover these sharp edges, like the awning end caps, the antenna, rain vent edges, etc. with some soft plastic, then tape down and finally cover with your tarp.

Odessa?! I'm in new port richey and just bought a beautiful 05 22T. Our previous was a tent so we feel like we've moved up to Paree! Maybe we can hook up some time.

Neighbors...

Nice to have neighbors with HiLos...welcome..and I was looking at my Adco cover today. It is falling apart and already has a hole in it. I'm starting a building next week for the HiLo. This is the second Adco cover and both lasted almost 2 years. I didn't buy the second one; Adco sent me a replacement after I mailed them a sample of the first cover that started flaking and finally fell apart. Adco told me that the cover would not stand the Florida sun. So, what good is a cover when a cover won't do what it's intended for?? Like I said, don't buy the grey Adco cover. I've got a 2007 HiLo and this is 2010 and I've gone through 2 Adco covers??
