Hi! I recently inherited a 1976 hi-lo trailer which has been sitting for about 5 years but was reportedly in good working order up until then. I don't know anything about trailers but am trying to see if I can get it functional. I've learned a ton from these forums but I'm stuck and hoping to get some advice.

The battery was dead, so I hooked it up to the car battery and raised the top. Then I replaced the battery with a new one and everything seemed to be working fine, and i also plugged it into shore power. Another day or two and I go to lower it and the battery is dead. Turns out the pin from the breakaway breaks had been removed and also the converter was tripped and wasn't working. I turned back on the converter and got a new pin, but the battery still wasn't working. I exchanged the battery for a new one, but it's still not giving any power to anything in the trailer including the lift, lights, etc. I cleaned the terminals. Still nothing. Any ideas on what the problem might be??

Did you check the circuit breakers near the battery? They look like little metal boxes with two threaded terminals on them. There may be a reset button on one side. Press on the buttons to see if they may have popped. Some circuit breakers, maybe newer, are automatic reset and have no buttons. A test light would come in handy for checking them.

Thank you so much for the tips, sounds like I need to get a test light and do some investigating...
