What did you do to your HiLo Today?

I put curtain rods on the top and bottom of my curtains to prevent getting caught in the cables (did that once or twice). I used cafe rods with cup hooks to hold them.

Replaced the original water pump with a new one, installed new curtain rods. Also put chrome ABS trim rings on wheels, sure does make it look pretty Tomorrow we'll work on the door, it needs new weatherstrip and a latch. Getting it ready to head for RMNP next month.

AM} Thank you Sam, it's not the striker plate, something has come apart inside the door handle. I think the spring snapped. Unfortunately, I discovered this morning that the roof has developed a leak sometime while we were in Oregon last week. Guess what's at the top of the list today!!!

PM} Found the elusive pin hole in the aluminum roof next to the vent. Got it sealed with metalized tape for now until I can get to Westlake this week to pick up Lexel. Door latch repaired and new weatherstrip installed. We also lost a couple covers on the marker lights last week so we picked up new LED markers and installed them today. Checking into awnings, didn't have one installed originally, so I think a rope and pole option might work the best on our older trailer.

Bulb seal
as most of you know that the bulb seal loses the material inside and all you have is the exterior skin, I was thinking of replacing it at some time, so I was using swimming pool noodles from the dollar store to seal it. while I was visiting a farm I saw in the barn a can of foam insulation that seals holes and gaps...we I decided to get a can from HD the brand that I saw was this

I attached a nylon tube to extend the length and once I was able to reach the open section of bulb seal, squirted the foam untill it was half full, in about an hour it expands and the bulb seal is back to sealing again, because the seal is sandwitched between the upper and lower section it expands as the space alows, and some comes out close to the edge, with a sharp utility knife it can be trimmed. I tried it in one section, and I will finish the rest.

The old one had become very hard to open and close, and I was afraid it might NOT open or close at an inopportune time. I got the replacement valve from e-Trailer and it was a simple remove and replace job. The new one works nicely.

Good to know a source. We just returned from a three night dry camping trip and when we were prepping to leave the campground I noticed I had black or gray water leaking from the drain and both valves were closed all the way.

I tried that Rich - didn't seem to help at all.

I don't know why the old one was "stiff". It looked fine when I removed it. Was not gunked up with "stuff" or anything.

Anyway, it wasn't a big job and the new one is fine.

I had not had any problems with the drain valves until we were on our month long trip in May/June. When we returned home I did spray the valve rods with lubricant and they did open and close better, but I guess I didn't get one closed all the way, which resulted in a slight mess when I opened them at the campground today.

I too ended up replacing my valve this week and after inspecting the old valve it appeared I could have ordered gaskets and just replaced them instead of the complete valve, which would have been about $6.00 vs $20.00.

After returning August 18th from our nearly two month road trip across the U S A, I have been catching up on honey do's for the trailer. We have used the shower in the trailer, maybe twice, so I made a cabinet that sits on the rim of the tub and included space for a trash can and laundry bag. After several issues with the hot water heater, I finally broke down and replaced the old electronically controlled heater with a new, same type water heater. The last project was replacing the el cheapo Ventline kitchen vent fan with a Fan-Tastic multiple speed, reversible speed fan. Tha Thats all folks!

Garry - if your fan is like mine, you're going to love it! It's quieter than the old Mattel toy fan, uses less power, and, if it rains, the fan shuts off and the vent closes. Then, it tries opening again to see if the rain has stopped after maybe 10-15 minutes? Closes again if it's still raining and repeats.

I run it the entire time we're camping.

Today finally fixed water leak and posted re-intro

After over 6 months of ignoring the Hi-Lo, except for draining all the water in November, I finally screwed up my courage and removed the interior wall which I should have done last September instead of hose frustrating hours trying to get my fingers and tools through the small hole where the city water enters. With access to the tubing, fixing the leak was pretty easy. So next week I'll re-lube the cables, put air in the tires if required, and restudy the online manual and comments in preparation- again- for a maiden voyage. Hoping.
