While plugged in to 30 amp, is my new batt getting charged?

Gotta admit, I was starting to lose confidence, having never owned a Hi-Lo before and getting worried over whether new batt plugged into 30 amp was going to lift top.

If working normally the top should go up in about 12 seconds, and down in 11 seconds. That was the advertised times.

This may have already been mentioned but ensure the lift system is properly lubricated and that no binding is going on. Sounds like you are making progress!

Seems rear left side of top may be an inch LOWER than rest. Can I adjust cable by jacking top (while up) and tightening cable?

Jerry, There is a way to adjust those cables. Check along the street side near the axle. You'll see four "bolts" protruding. When I adj cables, I lower the top, and using two 9/16" box wrenches, and if needed a pair of vise grips. Loosen the outer nut on the lower rear bolt, TIGHTEN the inner nut (while holding the cable side NOT ON THE CABLE with the vise grips). Only tighten the inner nut about 1 - 1 1/2 turns, raise the top and see where your at. DO NOT raise it too much. Only till it touches the bump at the top of the bottom (as seen at the door) Repeat as necessary.

Jerry- have you actually measured it to determine if one side is lower? Once you have determinded it is- you should cut 4 2x4s EXACTLY THE SAME LENGTH that you can place between the frame and the bottom of the corners of the top. They should be a few inches shorter( maybe 4-6?) than the distance between top and frame when up all the way. Then, lower it onto THOSE, do your adjustment, put the top back up and measure. If you need more adjustment, then you don't have to lower as far to do the next one.

Thanks guys. Great info. I think I can do this. Need to raise rear left side of top only about an inch, as she seems to be binding a bit. Gonna give this a try.

Rick, good idea with the 2 X 4s. I don't have a level drive, but I guess I could put them on the outriggers, Hummmm....

Decided to sell

Guys, thanks for so much help. We sold our Hi-Lo on Tuesday. Just too big for us old folks and no place to store and work on.
