    Hydraulic reservoir seal? Missing?

I ALMOST did this myself! That is so tempting - I even had one corner coming up WAY too high when I purchased it, and that's what made me notice that it too low on all the other corners. While the other corners were too low, my left front corner was WAY too high. I had to let OUT the cable...

    Hydraulic reservoir seal? Missing?

One more quick detail that I'm just starting to notice: When the top half comes all the way down, just on the last inch of descent or so, I'm noticing what I believe is the top "shifting" over towards the right and front - just a bit. Maybe a half-inch to an inch. Not 100% certain on this -...

    Hydraulic reservoir seal? Missing?

I am so new at all of this. Frustrating. Wish one of you experts lived right across the street! I don't THINK that I've adjusted them too tight - but I may have. Who's to say. I expected the rear to need much more adjustment, as it was the rear that wasn't lifting up to the seal by nearly...

    Hydraulic reservoir seal? Missing?

That's exactly what I DIDN'T want to hear.... Hopefully it's a clean fix. Feel like I'm plowing into new territory here.

    Hydraulic reservoir seal? Missing?

Do you keep your fluid level an inch down from the top? My manual reads "within an inch" from the top. I added ATF to within about 1/2" of the top. Just re-reading and noticed that little detail...

    Hydraulic reservoir seal? Missing?

 OK - in the past few hours, here's what I've learned: 1) My hydraulic pump is definitely leaking, and it's definitely coming from the filler cap. I lifted it up then used the manual drop to bring her down so I could watch from up front. Sure enough, there came the fluid. 2) I know the...

    Leveling the upper walls

I just leveled (loosely!) my top half last night - a '94 21-footer. There's nothing to it. Check around and find the procedures; you'll have no problem with it. Post some pics and give us a look at the ol' gal!

    1976 hi lo

All together now..... "Fix it! Fix it! Fix it!" Of course, that's easy to say from this end; I'm good at spending other people's time and money.

Battery tray/Hydraulic pump box spreading - any ideas?

The battery tray/hydraulic pump box on my '94 Funlite is "spreading" from side to side; the cover won't sit down on the box, and now all the electrical connections are just left exposed to the world and all its elements. Anyone have any ideas on how to combat this? I was thinking of just...

    Exterior shine-up

I'll try and post up a pic or two to give you an idea of what I'm talking about. I'm sure you have what I have. I just need to jump in and give her some shine!

    Exterior shine-up

You may be right - but why would they only paint the bottom half? I'm going to try your Meguiar's idea; I think I may even have some of that in the garage...

Is this normal? Front raises just higher than the rear

Hey Sting32 - I've seen the safety latch, and you're right: it's holding the plate after it (the plate) has been pushed all the way out. Makes sense that a broken cable would still allow the roof to drop. It's actually much different that I had envisioned in my mind. Initially, I had a...

    Exterior shine-up

Do you have the fiberglass exterior, RCREYES? Does it create any kind of coating/seal? My lower half looks almost like it's got a waterproof coating. Really a glossy sheen to it.

    Hydraulic reservoir seal? Missing?

No, I'm not sure. I'm going to check it this evening to see what I find. I hope it's not going to take a flush/refill - that sounds somewhat cumbersome. But if it's necessary...

    Hydraulic reservoir seal? Missing?

All good points/questions, Sting32 - Do you think the fluid level might be too high? I'll have to check this eve after I round up some alternate ways to check the fluid levels. After I adjusted the cables last night (so that the top would raise evenly), I noticed that it took longer than...

    Hydraulic reservoir seal? Missing?

I wonder if this cap/vent can be cleaned. Anyone ever found a plugged vent hole in their cap? I did read in the manual that the descent speed can be increased/decreased...but I'm more concerned about why the fluid is pushing out. I think the rate of descent is ok for now. I THINK. Haha!

Is this normal? Front raises just higher than the rear

I've inspected my cables from underneath; as far as I can see they're in really good condition. So are my pulleys. I will try and take a few pics of them this evening and post them here. Would love to know what you all think of them. On my '94, there seems to be a combination of steel...

Is this normal? Front raises just higher than the rear

Great question, MEBradley. I'm wondering the same thing... If that's the case, then to block the top while camping would be unnecessary overkill, right?

    Hydraulic reservoir seal? Missing?

I'll get out my manual and see what I can find as far as vents; I'm assuming they just allow air to be purged from the lines/system - is that right? I can also slow down the descent speed - but according to my manual, this shouldn't need to be done very often, or at all. Manual calls for about...

Is this normal? Front raises just higher than the rear

So the catch is for hydraulic only? Is that enough? So - do you block it when you're camping? Or do you trust your cables enough? I'm thinking that maybe I should just replace them, for the peace of mind if nothing else. I did make the adjustments in small increments, and ran it up and down...

Is this normal? Front raises just higher than the rear

What's the fix on this? Simply cable replacement? Wouldn't the new cable just fall into the cut made by the older cable? I may be dealing with this; my front was raising much higher than the back, before adjustment.

    Exterior shine-up

The lower half of my '94 Funlite shines like nothing else; the top half is another story. Is there any product that I can apply to my upper half to bring back that luster? That sheen that my lower half still has? I have the fiberglass siding. Just curious what's available...

    Vent pipe repair

CTWC - do you have any pics of this piece? My plumbing vent is broken at the top, where it attaches to the roof. There looks to be about 3 screws that hold the flange to the roof - but they're all stripped from the wood, and it won't stay in place. I could try wood glue, but that would really...

    It's kind of addicting!

Once we started wrenching on our old '94 Funlite, and especially after we found and became familiar with this forum - we are HOOKED on working on our Hi Lo. It's really kind of addicting! I'm swinging by the forum all day at work, looking at other questions/threads, wondering what I'll be...
