The beginning of major remodel

About 95% complete now. Got a final punch list made up and I'm hoping it will be ready to roll by next weekend so I can take her on her maiden voyage/test run. But still quite a bit to do before then. And when everything else is done then I can focus on the upholstery, then get to work on outside paint. Will post pics at the end of the week.

Installed 6 gallon water heater and curtains today and just about have the couch upholstery done and ready to install. Gotta make the cushion covers for dinette area, install some trim, and a little touch up paint and inside is done! Oh, and caulk all those seams in the ceiling tile. That's gonna be a lot of fun. Trailer is all electric now and the propane bottles are coming off.

Thanks Garry! I think the whole thing is turning out rather nice. I just hope it stays together when I start dragging it around. Gotta get them on the cushions for the dinette next. Almost there!

Upholstery

Your entire remodel looks very good. DH says it will be a long time before he installs ceiling tile like yours in our HiLo. That means never as he has many things on the to do list. Best of luck on your maiden voyage.

Awwww. I've always wanted to go back to Niagra Falls. Maybe I should just shoot on up there and install your tile, check out the falls again, and head on back. LOL. I truly would if I was a richer man.. Unfortunately, I can barely pay attention. It actually only took several hours to install the tile. It cuts very easily with a utility knife. The trick is imagining it on the ceiling as you have it upside down cutting it. Gotta constantly flip it the way it's going up to figure which side to cut. I did scrap a few in the process.

Tile ceiling

I first would have to see how well it holds up to road trips. Every year our truck needs alignment due to jarring pot holes. Our winters wreck our roads.

I think she's ready for the road! After putting the white on top I'm looking forward to painting the outside this winter the it will be ready for spring and summer.

Well here is a status report on the ceiling tile. The ceramic tile adhesive is just not going to flex enough to hold it up. Took the trailer for about a 20 mile test run and already have a couple popping loose. On the bright side the ceramic tile backsplash i set in silicone seems to be fine. Lesson learned? Stick the ceiling tiles up with silicone. I'm sure I'm gonna loose some tiles next weekend so I'm gonna carry some silicone with me and begin the repair process as soon as I get to the state park. I should have known that tile glue was gonna dry too hard. Oh well. Not a big problem.

I'm really sorry the ceiling is not holding. I hope you have better luck with the silicone. I wonder if Lexel or wall panel glue might work better?

Thanks Jack. The trick is it is styrofoam so certain chemicals, like liquid nail, will melt the tiles. I think the silicone will work. Just has to be something that will flex with the trailer.

Oh well, you had to try, which some of us won't do, so I'm sure you will get it to work one way or the other.
Hope your state park is as nice as the city park we stayed at in Lewisville, TX two weeks ago. Beautiful setting on a lake and the price was right if you're old...$8.00 a night with h20 and power, showers/laundry and dump station.

That is super cheap. I'm headed to Martin Dies state park in Jasper, Texas. And as far as the tile, I will figure it out and keep everyone here posted so if anyone else decides to do it there will be a proven method to use available to anyone here.

I pulled the trailer a little over 300 miles and didnt lose any ceiling tiles. The couple that popped loose on a corner must have just not had enough glue. I think all is going to be well with the tile. Just a status report.
